Lavender Powder

While I hear from time to time about Lavender Powder (apparently referring to lavender as a color) being used as a cosmetic, I have yet to actually find any historical recipes for such a mixture. About the nearest thing I might know of is T. LeClerc's powder in a shade like Parme or Orchidee, T. LeClerc being a very old brand of makeup that would have existed in Gibson Girl/Titanic era.

Next best I can do is from Jeanne Rose's Herbal Body Book, which was written in the 1970s -- however, many recipes she includes do come from older sources. Perhaps one of this is the elusive recipe?

Body Powder Lavender for Men and Women
2 oz Lavender, powdered
2 oz fine Montana talc or any other unscented talcum

Mix thoroughly and sift through a fine sieve discarding any large particles.

Freshly dried lavender would probably impart a slight grey/blue tint to the mixture, in addition to providing its famous scent.
