How to sift plain old cornstarch or rice flour or orris root to a cosmetic grade? Here's a trick I learned from back in my days as a henna tattoo artist:
Get a container with a lid, and line it with a piece of pantyhose (or several layers if you want it very fine.) Then add your powder, seal the lid, and shake-shake-shake! The stocking will sift out the larger particles into the jar.
