The Peter Pan Collar


The Peter Pan collar seems to be in fashion now. An interesting article about its Edwardian history can be found here.

As you may notice above, the original collar was -- like many collars in those days -- a separate piece from the shirt. They were tucked in through the neck-hole and if needed, pinned into place. This allowed the same collar to be worn with many different outfits, and also allowed the collar to be washed separately (collars will often get more dirty than the rest of the garment.)
