Gowland's Lotion

This stuff is hella poisonous -- I do not recommend it be used or made by anyone!!! However, I'm posting the recipe because it was important stuff back in the day. Woman Beautiful's recipe was:

1 ounce blanched almonds
3 drachms bitter almonds
1 pint distilled water
15 grains bichloride of mercury

Make a simple almond milk with the almonds and half the water, and in the other half of the water dissolve the mercury. Strain the almond water into the mercury water, and top off with enough water to measure exactly 1 pint (some liquid will have been lost in the procedure.) "Take care that nothing alkaline or metallic touches the liquid."
